DCN Diving was contracted in 2006 by Gasunie to conduct repairs on a 48″ pipeline located in the IJsselmeer. The pipeline was located at less than 18 meters depth. DCN designed a habitat with a riser which was positioned over the pipeline, once this was completed the habitat was sealed and dewatering operations started. Once this was completed the Diver Welders were able to enter the habitat through the riser and trunking on the top of the habitat.
Prior to conducting this operation the weld procedure and diver welders where coded in DCN’s Hyperbaric Welding System. In picture below a shot of the Hyperbaric Welding Test Facility in 2006. In 2014 it was upgraded, for more information on this and the project please click here.
