Project

Pipeline Rehabilitation GDF Suez Wilhelmshaven, Germany

All joints of the cooling water inlet and outlet pipelines at the GDF Suez power plant in Wilhelmshaven were successfully sealed using DCN’s self-developed Self Propelled Habitats (SPH). These advanced systems were deployed across the full length of the pipelines, covering a total distance of 1,300 meters, ensuring efficient and reliable joint closure.

This self propelled habitat is the ideal platform for diving operations inside cooling water intake pipelines, culverts, outfalls and sewer pipes.

It can be operated from the surface or by divers and enables safe and efficient work over long distances in confined spaces, while providing a dry and controlled environment. Connected to a central control room via an umbilical, the system integrates life support, communication, and monitoring.

The SPH travels on an eight-wheel hydraulic drive system powered by environmentally friendly high-pressure fresh water pumps. It can operate in culverts up to 400 meters long and with widths between 2,500 mm and 2,800 mm.
